How to Secure Your Pakistani Business Website with SSL

Build Something Beautiful

With a .pk Domain

Just Rs 1,999

After auditing business websites across Pakistan, the same problem keeps showing up.

Sites running without SSL, or with an expired certificate, losing customers the moment Chrome shows the “Not Secure” warning.

Google treats HTTPS as a ranking signal. Browsers flag HTTP sites in red.

Customers, especially those buying online, leave the moment they see that warning. In Pakistan, how to secure your Pakistani Business Website with SSL  is not optional.

Here is what you need to know to get it right:

  • Which type to choose
  • If free or paid makes sense
  • How to install it
  • What the 2026 industry changes mean for you.

Which SSL Type Does Your Business Website Need?

There are three validation levels. The encryption strength is the same across all three, the difference is how much your identity gets verified.

SSL TypeWhat It VerifiesBest ForApprox. Cost (PKR/year)
DV (Domain ValidationDomain ownership onlyBlogs, portfolios, info sitesFree to PKR 2,000
OV (Organization Validation)Domain + business registrationBusiness websites, lead-gen sitesPKR 8,000 – 15,000
EV (Extended Validation)Domain + deep company verificationE-commerce, finance, healthcarePKR 30,000 – 60,000

For most Pakistani business websites, a services company, an agency, a local shop, an OV certificate is the right fit.

Visitors who click the padlock can see your verified company name, which builds trust beyond a simple lock icon.

For blogs, landing pages, or informational sites with no forms or payments, a DV certificate covers you.

For sites processing payments or handling sensitive customer data, EV is worth the investment.

Free SSL vs Paid SSL: Which One Is Right for You?

Most Pakistani hosts, including Truehost, include a free Let’s Encrypt SSL certificate with every hosting plan.

It is a DV certificate, and it encrypts your connection. For a basic business website, it does the job.

Where free SSL falls short:

  • Renews automatically every 90 days: if the auto-renewal fails, your site shows a security error
  • DV only: no business identity shown to visitors
  • No warranty:  if the certificate causes a security incident through mis-issuance, there is no financial protection
  • Shared infrastructure: Let’s Encrypt certificates are issued to millions of domains, including spammers and phishing sites, which some enterprise email filters flag

Paid SSL is better when:

  • You need OV or EV validation to show a verified business identity
  • You run an e-commerce store or take payments online
  • You want longer validity and a warranty in case of certificate failure
  • Clients or partners require a trusted paid certificate for compliance

Quick rule: Free SSL for blogs and informational sites. Paid SSL like OV or EV are for business sites that take enquiries, accept payments, or handle customer data.

How to Install SSL on Your Website via cPanel

Most Pakistani hosting plans use cPanel. If your host runs Truehost, MiddleHost, WebSouls, or HosterPK, these steps apply.

For free SSL (Let’s Encrypt):

  • Log in to your cPanel account
  • Scroll to the Security section and click SSL/TLS Status
  • Find your domain in the list and click Run AutoSSL
  • Wait 2 to 5 minutes — the certificate installs automatically
  • Visit your site and confirm the padlock icon appears in the browser bar

For a paid SSL (OV or EV from Truehost):

  • Purchase your SSL certificate from TrueHost.pk/ssl
  • In cPanel, go to SSL/TLS and click Manage SSL Sites
  • Paste your certificate, private key, and CA bundle files into the fields provided
  • Click Install Certificate

Force HTTPS: In cPanel, go to Domains and enable Force HTTPS Redirect next to your domain

After installing: Check your site using an SSL checker tool like ssllabs.com/ssltest is free.

It confirms the certificate is valid, the chain is complete, and there are no mixed content errors on your pages.

The 2026 SSL Change Every Pakistani Website Owner Must Know

From March 2026, SSL certificate validity has dropped from 398 days to 200 days.

By 2027, it drops to 100 days. By 2029, it will reach 47 days, meaning certificates will expire roughly every six weeks.

For Pakistani business owners managing SSL manually, this is a real risk.

A missed renewal now means your site throws a security warning twice a year instead of once.

What to do right now:

  • If your host offers AutoSSL (cPanel), make sure it is enabled, this handles Let’s Encrypt renewals automatically
  • If you use a paid SSL, check whether your provider offers auto-renewal. Here at Truehost  we offer auto-renewal.
  • Add a calendar reminder 30 days before your certificate expiry date as a backup
  • Check your current certificate expiry date today at ssllabs.com, then plan your renewal cycle

From March 2026, any new certificate issued is valid for a maximum of 200 days. If you renew now, plan for two renewals per year going forward, not one.

Mixed Content Warnings, Fix These After Installing SSL

After installing SSL, some pages may still show warnings or a broken padlock.

This is a mixed content issue if your site loads over HTTPS, but some images, scripts, or links still point to HTTP URLs.

The fastest fix on WordPress is to use the Really Simple SSL plugin. It scans and updates internal HTTP links to HTTPS automatically.

For non-WordPress sites, do a find-and-replace in your database or code for http://yourdomain.com and replace with https://yourdomain.com.

Secure Your Pakistani Business Website Today

An SSL certificate takes under 10 minutes to install. Every day without one is a day your visitors see a security warning and your Google rankings take a quiet hit.

Here at Truehost, we offer free SSL with every hosting plan and paid OV and EV certificates in PKR.

Visit truehost.pk/ssl to choose the right certificate for your site.
